Enhance Your Aerial, Handbalancing, and Calisthenics Skills with Our 4 Week Compression Strength Program!
“Lots of new and nuanced exercises so I can keep working towards my compression goals in various ways, with improved understanding of how I should be working!” - Emma Johnstone
Welcome to The Compression Strength Sessions: A 4 week self paced program going into the details of compression strength. We’ll be learning the fundamentals, and looking at how compression strength relates to and is impacted by flexibility, full body movement and skill training.
Each week contains a one hour practical exercise based class with coaching and theory on each exercise. The classes are follow along, and super simple to go through. You have new programming for each week that you can add to your current training practise to continue developing your compression strength. The program also comes with printable PDF worksheets so that you can reflect on and assess your progress. This helps you to identify exactly what you need to focus on based on your current level and training goals.
Here’s what each week of training will cover:
Week 1. Compression Strength Fundamentals
Week 1 dives into the fundamentals of compression strength, and how to train this unique form of strength from scratch. The fundamentals of anything are crucial to help you build a solid base from which to progressively and safely improve upon.
We’ll start training strength, flexibility and control for compression strength, in a super accessible way.
We’ll also use this session as an opportunity to assess ourselves, and we’ll cover some some basic anatomy.
Week 2. Compression and Flexibility
Week 2 focuses on flexibility. Building compression strength can only go so far without the necessary flexibility.
We’ll learn ways of training active flexibility that simultaneously work on compression strength, and we’ll also look at progressions for exercises and what to do if you are currently limited by flexibility.
Week 3. Compression and Movement
Week 3 looks at how to build compression strength through more movement based training.
We’ll utilise locomotion to not only challenge our compression strength, but our upper body and core strength. This will be the first encounter with training compression strength as part of full body movements.
Week 4. Compression for Skill Based Movement
Week 4 explores how to train compression strength for skill based movements.
This will include compression drills specifically for hand balancing and some aerial skills, but there will be carry over to other skills or sports. In this session we’ll also cover programming and how to continue your training beyond the classes.
